Online PLU-Approved Courses for Teaching Professionals In the state of Georgia, teachers are required to complete 10 PLUs every 5 years in order to retain their teaching certificates.  The courses below may be of interest to busy teachers who are on the go.  Each of the PLU-awarding courses is six weeks in length, with two lessons issued per week.  One 2-week extension can be granted.  A final exam with a passing score of 70% will earn you 2 PLU credits. Fall 2008 start dates include: August 20, September 17, October 15, November 12 and December 10. If you are currently teaching, you must complete the Prior Approval Form before you begin your course.  It is the responsibility of the student to maintain a record of prior approval for a course.  Please print out the form and have your supervisor sign it. Keep a copy for yourself and also provide a copy to our Continuing Education office. Once you have completed the course, print out your online letter of completion and send it to our office.  Once we receive all the paperwork, we will issue the PLU certificate. NOTE: If you are not presently employed as a teacher or do not yet have your teaching certificate, you do not need to complete the prior approval form.  You must, however, notify our office prior to taking the course that you are wanting PLU credit.  Once you have completed the course and sent in your letter of completion, we will issue the PLU certificate. When you are ready to renew your teaching certificate, attach your PLU certificates to your renewal application.
