Super Literacy Saturday for Child Care Professionals
The Rules and
Regulations of the Georgia Department of Human Resources for Child Care Centers,
Group Care Facilities and Home-Based Care Facilities require directors and
employees who provide any direct care to children to complete at least ten (10)
clock hours of training each year. The training must be task-focused in early
childhood education, child development, or subjects relating to job assignment
and must be offered by an accredited college, university, vocational program, or
other approved source. Attendance at this Super Saturday will allow childcare
providers to accumulate four of the ten annual professional development hours as
mandated by The Department of Human Resources. Each participant will receive a
certificate.

covered in this Super Literacy Saturday include:
9:00 – 11:00
a.m. “Get Ready to Read”
Professional Development Competencies: ECE-3
Credit: 2 hours
Early childhood
educators will learn simple methods of screening literacy skills and how to
facilitate appropriate literacy learning for preschoolers.
11:00 a.m. –
1:00 p.m. “Out of the Box: Promoting Literacy in the 21st Century”
Professional Development Competency: ECE-3
Credit: 2 hours
This training
aids early childhood educators and families in maximizing literacy-learning
opportunities for children birth to 4.
