Southwest Georgia Youth Writing Project

This summer camp is designed
to generate an interest in written expression, foster existing creativity, and
create positive writing experiences for students throughout the southwest
Georgia region. This summer camp will open the doors to endless opportunities
and prove to be an activity that students will wish to participate in year after
year.
The program
will be held on June 17 - 21, 2008 in the English Department Room 118 on the campus of
Georgia Southwestern State University. Times are as follows:
Tuesday-Friday
Noon until 5:00 p.m.
(Lunch will be served.)
Saturday, 9
a.m. until 1 p.m.
Students are expected to participate each day for the entire
session. There will be at least one planned outing during the week about which
students will write.
Students should expect a
working lunch. Snacks and lunch will be available for a nominal daily charge
($1.50) or student may furnish their own.
The camp will conclude on Saturday afternoon with our “C. A. B. event” (Creative
Artistic Beings). During C. A. B. students will:

Breakfast with their parents and
peers
ü
receive a
copy of the anthology they will create
during camp
ü
share their favorite
writing with parents and friends
Students, ages
8 - 14, may
participate.
Camp fees:
$60 per student–This covers the production of the anthologies, C. A. B. expenses
and t-shirts. One-half of the fee is due with the application ($25) and the
balance ($35) is due upon acceptance. All but $10 is refundable upon written
request and must be submitted five days prior to camp opening date. Checks
should be made payable to: "SWGYWP" or "Southwest Georgia Youth Writing
Project".
Transportation:
Parents/Guardians are responsible for providing transportation to and from camp
at the times indicated. Students licensed to drive may transport themselves with
permission of parent or guardian. For planned outing, parents/guardians may be
asked to assist or give permission to others helping with group transportation
in personal vehicles.
The Southwest
Georgia Youth Writing Project is limited to 20 students per camp, so please
secure your spot early.
