This program is the nation’s first and largest classroom driver improvement course especially designed for motorists age 50 and older.  This eight-hour course is taught in two, four-hour sessions spanning two days.  The course helps drivers refine existing skills and develop safe, defensive driving techniques.  There are no tests.  Upon successfully completing the course, graduates may be eligible to receive a state-mandated multi-year discount on their auto insurance premiums.  Participants will receive a card good for three years. 

The AARP 55 Alive course covers the following topics:

  • Vision and hearing changes
  • Effects of medication
  • Reaction time changes
  • Left turns and other right-of-way situations
  • New laws and how they affect you
  • Hazardous driving situations

TIME:                           Thursday: 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.
                                       Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
