Aikido - Martial Arts
Do the constant reports in the news media about people
being attacked make you feel concerned, even defenseless? Do you sometimes feel
physically threatened? If yes, this course may appeal to you.
Aikido is a Japanese martial art which focuses not on
punching or kicking opponents, but rather on harmonizing with the attack to
immobilize or throw the attacker. It places great emphasis on motion and the
dynamics of movement. The practice of Aikido provides its participants not only
self-defense techniques but also spiritual and physical health, self confidence,
and peace of mind. Aikido can be practiced by men, women and mature children.
The benefit for women from the practice of Aikido is significant because Aikido
does not depend upon strength as do many martial arts.
Private introductions to the art of Aikido are available
for groups upon request.
