Haven’t you wanted to share pictures and messages with friends and family? Wouldn’t it be great to have coffee and read the newspaper every day from home with people you know around the world? Newspapers, coupons, pictures, games and much more are available for free through the social networks. It just takes a little know-how, and you are on your way to a larger, yet quietly personal, involvement with the world around you. In this class, the instructor will take you through some of the free and popular networks available to you. These different networks reach a surprising number of people; Facebook alone has over 800 million users. Now with new sites like Googlet (read Google plus) acquiring over 25 million users in a single weekend, it’s time for a short introduction to what things computers, sites and search engines can and cannot do. Instructor Brigitte Tidwell, avid user of social media, teacher and hands-on scholar, will provide an understanding of what is current, what to look for and what to be wary of. She will guide participants in the set-up of their chosen services and help answer any questions. Students may bring their own laptops to class.
