Learn basic features of Microsoft’s operating system, Windows XP. This course will include needed terminology for the beginning XP user and definition and use of basic functions of the desktop. You will learn to create, launch and save documents within XP. There will be a brief explanation of basic windows commands and uses.

The same manual is used in Welcome to the World of Computers. Deduct $20 from the fee if you already have the manual.  Prerequisites: Welcome to the World of Computers or comparable Windows XP experience

Level 2

This course picks up where Windows XP: Level 1 leaves off. More advanced file management uses are covered. You will learn how to organize, find, create and move files, as well as create shortcuts. Other items to be covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Changing Mouse Properties
  • Changing a Volume Property
  • Changing Display Properties
  • Selecting and modifying themes
  • Customizing Start Menu and Taskbar

Level 3

Continue your XP journey learning the ins and outs of Microsoft’s newest operating system. You will learn to create, edit, save, and print a notepad document, copy and move text using the clipboard, and use the calculator to perform basic arithmetic computations. Also, one of the more popular features of XP, configuration for multiple users, will be covered; this utility provides personalized user environments, creating local users and groups, managing user profiles and personalizing the desktop. And, last but not least, a sneak peek to the World Wide Web, the Internet! As with all the XP courses listed, user questions are welcome and incorporated within the course.
