Looking for a job? Are your typing skills rusty? Did you buy a computer and have to "hunt and peck"? If so, then you need to take this class! In almost any job setting today, you have to have some type of computer skills. This eight-week (one evening per week) short course will teach you the keyboard, which is the first step in using a computer or typewriter. The participants will be taught the alphabet and symbols of a keyboard. Skill building exercises to build speed and confidence will be taught in order to prepare for that important job interview or school assignment.

Welcome to the World of Computers (6 HOURS)
This course is a basic introduction to computers for beginners. Participants will learn how to use computers, Windows XP and Windows Visa, the Internet, email basics, and word processing using Microsoft Word 2007. The course introduces basic navigation such as mousing, the cursor, the Desktop and the taskbar. The fundamentals of word processing will be covered using Word 2007. Students will be introduced to basic file browsing and file management. Web browsing and web basics will be explained. There will be a discussion of webmail, email attachments and email security including scams, phishing and spam. Learning is reinforced with plenty of illustrations and practical, hands-on projects and exercises.
